Orimattila Art Museum summer exhibition – contemporary sculpture as a catalyst for thought
This summer, Orimattila Art Museum will host ‘Summer Dream,’ a joint exhibition by two sculptors, Iisa Lepistö and Océane Bruel. The exhibition emphasises spatiality, a material-driven approach, and new directions in sculpture. The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Association of Finnish Sculptors. It is curated by Saskia Suominen, exhibition director at Galleria Sculptor.
‘Summer Dream’ consists of a collection of works in which materials range from marble and granite to the seed pods of eaten fruit. The Association of Finnish Sculptors is producing the exhibition invited by Orimattila Art Museum. This collaboration complements the art museum’s sculpture-focused exhibition programme for this year. ‘The Association of Finnish Sculptors offers a front-row seat to contemporary Finnish sculpture, so this collaboration enriches our programming with new perspectives,” says museum curator Anniina Kiiskinen.
The exhibition itself is an atmospheric experience, created in a distinct space at the heart of the art museum. ‘Summer Dream’ invites visitors to dream and tune into a world beyond the ordinary—it creates a space for reflection. A poetic and artistic exhibition text guides the viewer into the exhibition’s dreamlike atmosphere.
Summer Dream is the first joint exhibition by Iisa Lepistö and Océane Bruel. Lepistö (b. 1994, Sipoo) works primarily with stone, using text and sculpture as her mediums. In her works, she explores memory, perseverance, and rhythm. Bruel (b. 1991, Montpellier, France) works at the intersection of sculpture and installation. In her practice, physicality, materiality, and spatiality form a delicate interweaving.
Both Lepistö and Bruel have been awarded the Raimo Utriainen Foundation’s scholarship for young sculptors. Works by both artists are included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, among others. The joint exhibition by Iisa Lepistö and Océane Bruel, ‘Summer Dream’, is on view at Orimattila Art Museum from 12 June to 23 August, 2026.
The Finnish Heritage Agency has supported the realisation of the exhibition, and the Arts Promotion Center has supported Océane Bruel’s work.
